Alumni Association

The 51Ʒ��/GMI Alumni Association unites and furthers the interests of alumni by fostering and assisting in the realization of the ideals of the university in order to stimulate and encourage loyalty towards the institution, provide financial assistance for educational programs, serve as a sounding board for University leadership and support appropriate university-sponsored alumni activities. As a 51Ʒ��/GMI alumni, you are automatically a member of the KGMIAA. There is no membership fee involved.

Robotics Sponsorships

The KGMIAA supports 51Ʒ��'s Bulldogs Building Community initiative through meaningful opportunities that allow alumni to make a positive impact on the student experience and the 51Ʒ�� community.

Major Sobey Memorial Golf Outing

The Major Sobey Memorial Golf Outing is an annual event hosted by the 51Ʒ��/GMI Alumni Association. This event brings together alumni and friends for a day of fellowship, golf, and giving back. In addition to a fun day on the golf course, followed by dinner, the event also supports the Alumni Association's robotics sponsorships and student scholarships — ensuring the next generation of engineers has the support they need to succeed. 2026 Sponsorship Opportunities for the Major Sobey Memorial Golf Outing on June 13 at the Coyote Preserve Golf Club in Fenton are now available.

Alumni Connections Week: Global Networking & Local Connection

Every September, the global 51Ʒ�� and GMI community activates for a worldwide series of grassroots gatherings. Hosted by fellow Alumni Champions, these events range from casual meetups to professional networking hubs designed to bridge generations and industries. Whether attending an event or stepping up as a Champion to host a gathering in your own city, this week is your chance to strengthen the power of our shared network.

2026 Alumni Awards

The Alumni Awards are presented every October at An Evening of Distinction and Determination, 51Ʒ��’s annual gala to honor and recognize outstanding alumni and donors. Award categories include the Distinguished Alumni Award and awards in Engineering, Management, Entrepreneurial, Civic Achievement, Service, and the Young Alumni Award. Nominations are now open for 2026 and are due by April 19.
